Floors floors floors

I like floors. Ground floor is a floor. Second floor is a floor. Roof is a… wait for it… floor. Even when I used to draw a roof in Revit if it was flat I would use the floor slab option because floors are so FREAKING SIMPLE!!!

Anyway, I got the floors in the house and the roof on. This is so bird poop and leaves do not fall into the interior. I also got a large tarp to finish it off with for now. Ideas for the roof finish are between these following options at the moment:

  1. Copper
  2. Aluminum
  3. Radiant Barrier
  4. Cedar Shingles

Next steps will be installing the exterior VERTICAL walls. I took a trip to the local makerspace and met with an awesome guy named Rob who showed me the CNC and shop setup. Feels just like college again. Really looking forward to using this space and learning from the creative minds of Austin surrounding me.

I will be CNCing my 4′ x 8′ x 3/4″ panels of Red Oak Hardwood plywood to fit the patterns deviated from my steel design patterns. Possible ideas involve 3d CNC patterns in the side of the home and pre determined pilot holes for the wood itself using CNC so it looks nice. Sealing the “Northern” (in drawings) wall will provide the most complete coverage of the home and start to get that half in half out feeling. Basically I can put a couch inside at that point and get a big smile on my face.

I’m going to California for a week on workation (surfs up brah) so I needed to protect my tiny home against weathering. Bought this giant tarp and some bungee cords off Amazon and they are awesome! Somehow I was able to put it on myself but the corners of the house are quite sharp so I might use a buddy next time. Makes me feel independent that I can get this on and off in case of inclement weather (better safe than sorry). It also made me realize I need a hatch to the roof out of the loft.

Bungee Cords were 5$ at time of purchase (6 pack) – https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H2ESO4U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

UV Resistant 6 mil 20′ x 30′ Tarp $35 – https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B1SLVMU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not livable yet but definitely starting to feel like it’s own interior space!

And here’s a potential stain color. Will definitely look different with the Red Oak panels I am receiving but this would be acceptable.
